"Give a statement of the official business transacted during the month; its nature and your method of disposing of the same. State your office hours; the number of days absent from office; if any, and reason for the same."
The Agent has been employed at all hours both day & night in making settlements of crops between in many cases, lazy, idle freedmen & thieving, cheating employers. Saturday & Monday is devoted to office duty. other weekdays to visiting plantations. Sunday to Freedmens Sunday Schools, church quarrels and fights among the brethren.

"State the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the same; whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed; in other words will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice; &c., &c."
One Company of Infantry is stationed at this Post. if the Freedmen are left to the Civil Law of Texas I think they would bet plenty of law but little justice.
