"Give a statement of the official business transacted during the month; its nature and your method of disposing of the same. State your office hours; the number of days absent from office, if any, and reason for the same."
The principal business at present is confined to the settlement of Acts between Planters and freedmen, and as more than one half of the freedmen work for a portion of the crop, numerous complaints are about the division of it. I have been absent from my office Twelve days during the month, for the purpose of apportioning the corn crops between planters and freedmen. My office hours are from 8 a.m. until 4 pm daily.

"State the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the same; whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed; in other words will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice; &c., &c."
I have four men from the 17th U.S. Infy with me, but have forwarded a request to have them returned to their Company. As the Civil Authorities are always willing to assist me in the execution of my duties
