In all cases unless very urgent I postpone until the following Sunday as most all freeman come in to the city on Monday to do their trading. My office hours are between 8 o'clock A.M. + 4 o'clock P.M. I am at the [[?]] of San Marcos on the 8th + 9th and 24" + 25" of each month

"State the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the same; whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed; in other words will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice; &c., &c."

I have at this office three men and one Sergent - I think that there is a great necessity for troops at this place until the present crops are entirely gathered.
