The people mostly live by raising Cattle, and raise no more crops than are required for family use, the freed people generally work for monthly wages, about twenty dollars per month. 

"Include in your Report the operations of the State laws as applied to freed people, with special reference to the Apprentice Law, Vagrant Law, and Law regulating labor."
