"Report the disposition and feeling of the white people towards the freed people as expressed by words and actions."

It is beginning to become adverse, and in every way very unfair - the people under Genl Hancock's orders refuse to them the J.W. their wages & tell them to "Sue at Court" How can give bonds for security of costs to begin suit with, & employ a lawyer?

EDUCATION.

"Report the feeling upon the subject of educations; what steps have been taken to promote the same ; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction in what manner they may be assisted, &c., &c."

The school in the same status as I reported last month Mr. Bovete received the this month about $4.00/100 The people are willing and do make all efforts but they can barely, at the present time, subsist themselves. The school here must necessarily close without without there can be assistance obtained.
