Corn + Cotton raised principally, F. M.[[Freedmen]] generally work for one half the crop but seldom get anything when it is gathered without appealing to the R.A.C.

"Include in your Report the operations of the State laws as applied to freed people, with special reference to the Apprentice Law, Vagrant Law, and Law regulating labor."

Hear nothing of the above mentioned Laws. [[(At-Justice here.)?]]

No difficulties at present, expipt[[except?]] that as the Business of the office is very heavy the service of a Clerk would be of great benefit to the R. A. C. + he would resp'y [[respectfully?]] request authority to hire one for at least 60 days.
