| 1868 Feby 6th | Thomas Holmes (w) | Chas Anderson (c) | Assault & Battery with intent to kill. Defendant made three attempts to cut out Plaintiff's entrails but failing in that reached over and cut him in the back, making a severe but not fatal wound.! No action taken by the civil authorities. It was upon the place of the Defendant that Janett Gough was killed by Lane a few weeks ago. Holmes is a desperate character and I suspicion him but cannot prove it by testimony, as being an accomplice by Lane in the murder. I fined Defendant in the above case two hundred and fifty dollars and required him to pay damages to Plaintiff in the sum of one hundred dollars. |
