| 1868 22 Feb | Givens. (w) | Abraham Wolfe f.m.c | Assault with intent to kill. The injured party was driving peaceably along the road on 22d day of February 1868 when the criminal Givens was observed approaching & ordered Wolfe to halt when about 40 yds off.  Givens then fired at Wolfe the ball passing over head.  After this shot was fired Wolfe left his team standing in the road & fled into the woods.  Givens then pursued as far as the fence & fired the second shot while Wolfe was runing in the woods - this shot also failed to take effect.  Givens then quit the pursuit & went away. Criminal still at large. |

| 10th Feb | Wright Scogin Benj'n Scogin *(w) | Ed Edwards f.m.c |Assault with intent to kill. The injured party was endeavoring to persuade some freedmen not to fight & while doing so was struck down by the criminals Scogin & other parties who were in the crowd armed with pistols, knives, clubs &c. for the purpose of threatening all others who should dare to venture The freedman was severely beaten & bruised.  Edwards stands indicted before the grand jury for assault with intent to murder while the other parties who first assaulted Edwards go clear. Criminals still at large. |
