George Schooler (freedman) been sworn, states as follows, I bought of Mr William George of Jefferson, Marion Co, one hundred and three (103) acres of land, situated in Upshur Co, near Omega, for which I was to pay three hundred (300) dollars. I paid him $94.80 on the first of January, and was to make another payment of one hundred and fifty dollars on the first of Jany 1869. Mr George gave me up the land, and I moved my family upon it. On the 18th Inst. Mr Zackery came to my house and informed me that he had bought the land of Mr George. My mother then went to Mr George, and asked him for the corn and cotton, that I had paid him, amounting to $94.80 and he refused to give it up. I then called upon Mr Wicher Bailiff, and asked him to help me, and was told by him to come here and that you would help me
