Assisting freedmen to make advantageous contracts for the ensuing year. Office hours from 8 till 3. Absent (5) five days in Indian Nation for the purpose of consulting with Governor Harris in regard to criminals who run to the Nation from Txs. Interview satisfactory.

"State the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the same; whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed; in other words will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice; &c., &c."

One officer, one sergeant, two Corporals and Twelve privates Civil authorities would not give the freedmen justice if troops were removed. With exception of County Judge & one or two other officers. this County is in no better hands than it was previous to the promulgation of S.Os. Nos 192 & 195 1867
