Report the disposition and feeling of thew white people towards the freed people as expressed by words and actions."

As regards words, white people does not say much, when they can get a chance they try to injure the freedmen all they can (slyly) they are afraid to do anything openly, but secretly, they would as soon kill a freedman as snake,

EDUCATION.
"Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction and in what manner they may be assisted &c., &c."

As regards to the whites, they do not educate their own children and they are all bitter against the education of the freed children, I have tried and persuaded the freedmen to send their children to school have offered them a school house and a Teacher if they would promise me $20.00 per month but they are of the opinion that they must make these children work, and let the cultivation of the mind go, the class of freedmen here are those raised in Lousiana by the French and they are utterly unteachable the freed people here dont care for anything but a something to eat and to lay in the shade. As for educating there children the idea is a nobalty to to some of them.
