"State the kind of crops raised, and the condition of the same; whether the freed people work for monthly wages or a portion of the crop, and the customary amount of either. 
Planters generally plant 2/5 cotton and 3/5 corn and potatoes. Freed people generally work for a share of the crop and get nothing for their services only poorest fare . Many are now owing $500. each and some as much us $1000, The Freedmen generally work for half the crop some for one third and some of the more able for two thirds. 

"Include in your report the operations of the State Laws as applied to freed people, with special reference to the Apprentice Law. Vagrant Law, and Law regulating labor.'

But very few are apprentices + there are no vagrants in this County. 

" Report the difficulties you labor under in the performance of your duties, and how the same may be remedied."

The only dificulty now is that the civil officers are so slow to execute orders. In fact I think they are afraid. by Civil Officers, I mean the Sheriff & Constables.
