The business of the office has been making settlements with employers and freedmen, settling difficulties between freedmen, approving contracts, advising and looking after their interests in the civil Courts &c  I dispose of the same to the best of my knowledge and ability and in accordance with common law and equity. Hours of business 9 AM till 5 P.M. Absent from office six days reason sick with fever
