See statement of official business transacted under head. Civil Actions, disposed of in accordance with Genl Order No 4, in the fourth of cases I effect a compromise to the satisfaction of the parties. office hours from 8 o clock AM to 12 hrs & from 2 M to 5 PM, occasionly until midnight.

There are no troops at this Post a Sergeant & half dozen men would be of service. a full [[cote?]] of constables might answer the purpose. The freed people can get but little or no protection outside of this dept of the Govmt
