L., Austin, Texas Sir: In compliance with circular letter, dated Headquarters, Bureau of refugees, freedmen an Abandoned lands, state of Texas, Galveston, December 31, 1868, I have the honor to submit the following Report for the month ending May 31st, 1868: No civil or criminal suits have been adjudicated upon by me during the month last past The freed people are busy at their work in the country, and are seldom in town. A very few difficulties have occurred during the month and they have been disposed of by the civil authorities Dick Newby freed men was killed by Quince Owensby in the 6th day of may at 8 o'clock p.m. in the city of Paris.
