Visiting the various courts to see that justice is secured to Freedpeople,: visiting plantations to encourage freedpeople in their aggricultural pursuits.  Office hours from 9 A.M. till 5 P.M.  Absent 5 days visiting plantations.

"state the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the same; whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed; in other words, will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice? &c."

There are no Troops at this station, but a great necessity for at least 12 men. The freedpeople are not secure nor can the civil authorities protect them. It cannot be expected that the civil authorities could render justice to freedpeople in a community where there is so much corruption and prejudice.
