No official business transacted except the acknowledgement of the receipt of orders [?] communications. Have no particular office hours, am present for duty at all times. Have not been absent any time.

"State the number of Troops at your Post and the necessity for the same; whether or not the freed people would be secure if they were removed; in other words, will the civil authorities protect them and give them justice? &c."

"C" Company 35th Infantry Seventy (70) men This being a frontier Post and as few freedmen in its vicinity I do not think the presence of the military necessary for their protection. I believe that Justice is given through the civil authorities.
