"Report the disposition and feeling of the white people towards the freed people, as expressed by words and actions."

The disposition of the whites towards the freedpeople is such that unless they profess to belong to a certain political party they cannot stay in neighborhood 


EDUCATION.

"Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction, and in what manner they may be assisted, &c."

Two schools have been broken up and the teachers forced to fly for their lives, nor can they be reestablished without the presence of troops. The only schools now in session are in the town of Marshall
