"Report the disposition and feeling of the white people towards the freed people, as expressed by words and actions."

White citizens are seldom inclined to act justly towards the freedmen where they think they can take the advantage safely, but under the eye of the Bureau, they generaly assume to be very friendly towards them.

EDUCATION.
"Report the feeling upon the subject of education; what steps have been taken to promote the same; what efforts the freed people are making in that direction, and in what manner they may be assisted. &c."

To many of the freedpeople seem disirous that their children should have at best a common education  The free people around Sherman have bought a lot and erected a school house for the education of their children.  The teacher is paid by the freed people themselves.
