Captain George Spencer Roberts, Fairmont, W. Va., commander of the famous 99th Pursuit Squadron, talks shop with General Henry H. (Hap) Arnold, an Allied airport in Italy. The general visited the unit during his tour of the new Allied air fields after returning from the Middle-East conferences. Directly behind General Arnold is Lt. General Carl Spaatz, chief of the A.A.F. Mediterranean sector. Captain Roberts last week was credited with leading his 99th flyers through a successful attack on Germans along the 15-miles long Adriatic line. -Signal Corps Telephoto from INS.
