Biele Co. - -2-

measured the show cases and has the following to report:

The 2 - 6' show cases which you state on your bill are 6' long measure 5'9" long by 21" wide, inside measurements.

The 1 - 8' show case, which you state on your bill is 8' long, measures 7'9ΒΌ" long by 21" wide, inside measurements.

There is a scanting in most of the measurements, ranging from 1/16 to 1/4 of an inch.

The dimensions of the tables or stands seem to be all right.

Mr. Freer gave his order to you for the above show cases and stands, as per his letter of July 22nd, 1910, as follows:

"Two 6' show-cases, 22" wide top glass abd [[and]] 12" glass high. Same as the case made for me recently.

Three stands of ebonized-cherry, to be made in accordance with the sketch retruned [[returned]] herewith.

One show-case, same as the above, but 96" long glass.

One stand for the case 96" long.

One stand for the small metal case shipped some time ago."

I am pleased to advise you that the two 6' cases correspond in interior dimensions with the six foot show case made for Mr. Freer last Spring, but I am under the impression that a mistake has occurred in regard to the dimensions of the eight foot case. You will please notice that Mr. Freer's order to you for this case, reads: "96" long glass." Mr. Rathbun tells me that this case measures 96" long including the wooden framework about the glass, which framework projects beyond the glass nearly an inch at each end. This, I believe makes the glass of this show case approximately 94" long instead of 96" long, as ordered by Mr. Freer.

Will you kindly advise me how this mistake occurred, also the reason
