Dear Will:

I had a talk with Mr. Case yesterday and arranged with him to go to Kingston on Monday or Tuesday next and superintend the building of fences, tearing down the old stone house, and erection of new frame house. The salary is to be $60.00 per month and we are to pay his railroad fare and board at Kingston. This arrangement I believe is a good one and have no doubt you will so consider it. His wife will draw his salary here and you can pay his board in Kingston and keep a memorandum of same as part of the cost of the new house.

During my stay in New York Watson had one or two slight set backs but on the whole improved. Yesterday he felt quite well, and this morning he is quite comfortable. I presume you have informed George and Frank fully of his condition, and do not forget to caution both of them, if they write to Watson, to mention nothing about his head. The doctor does not want that matter referred to in any letters that may be written to him.

That dog you brought with you from interior Michigan is back at the house again. What shall we do with him? Please let me know promptly, as he is not a very desirable animal to have about.

Yours very truly,
Charles
