May 25/96.

Mr. W. H. Freer,
Kingston, Ulster Co., N.Y.

My dear Will:

Stephen is back and reports concerning the team about which he telegraphed me, and I also have your letter in reference thereto. The fact is I shall be on the wing more or less all summer and will really have little time to use horses. Furthermore, bicycles and electric cars are becoming so numerous in Detroit that I find no personal pleasure in driving.

Sorry to hear that the drouth is so troublesome with you and hope that this year will “pan out” better for you than last. All well here. Col. Hecker and Louise returned from their eight months’ absence last night, looking well and hearty.

Yours very truly,
Charlie
