August 21/96.

Dear Miss Lazarus:

Yours of the 21st inclosing note of this Co. for forty thousand dollars came yesterday. I delivered the note to our Treasurer and received ok for $40,000 which I deposited to your credit in the Nat. Savings Bank taking out four certificates of deposit of ten thousand dollars each, payable to your order. These certificates run three months each but can be renewed at maturity should you so desire. They have interest at four per cent per annum, payable at maturity and are enclosed herein.

I am glad to know that High Court is being rebuilt rapidly and hope the new will please you as much, as the old and that is hoping for a great deal. Cornish is wonderfully beautiful but without your home coming the hill much of the charm of the place would be lost. With kindest regards,

Very sincerely yours,
Charles L. Freer
