Mr. John W. Beatty,
Director, Carnegie Art Galleries,
Pittsburgh, Pa.

Dear Sir:

Earlier acknowledgement of your letter of 10th inst. prevented by my absence. The painting by Tryon was taken from my house yesterday by Hanna & Noyes and doubtless will reach you about the same time this letter does.

It is perhaps needless for me to state how fond I am of this work and to trust that no misfortune will overtake it on its present journey.

Trusting that your exhibition will prove entirely satisfactory and thanking you for the newspaper clippings received, I remain,

Yours very truly,
Charles L. Freer
