O U Y

The vowels A E I O U and Y are used to classify the names, so that five-sixths of the time is saved in looking for a name. This is effected by writing the name in the column where its first vowel appears. Thus, Chas. Ford, under O: Miller & Metcalf, under I.

Half the time can be saved in indexing by writing with indelible pencil instead of ink, thus doing away with the blotters and their repeated turning.

A
Arnold, C. H. 501.
Ambrose, E. H. 589.

U
Arthur & Bond. 363. 416. 446. 491.
Ault, Chas. H. 669.
