A E I The vowels A E I O U and Y are used to classify the names, so that five-sixths of the time is saved in looking for a name. This is effected by writing the name in the column where its first vowel appears. Thus, Chas. Ford, under O: Miller & Metcalf, under I. Half the time can be saved in indexing by writing with indelible pencil instead of ink, thus doing away with the blotters and their repeated turning. I J [[strikethrough]] Jochim, J. W. (See Sec’y of State.) 86.[[/strikethrough]] Jackson, Job. H. 177. Japanese Trading Co. 526. Ives, Halsey C. 11. 16. 25. Ives, Percy. 546. Jenness, H. L. 261. Jerome, T. D. 355. 430.
