A E I The vowels A E I O U and Y are used to classify the names, so that five-sixths of the time is saved in looking for a name. This is effected by writing the name in the column where its first vowel appears. Thus, Chas. Ford, under O: Miller & Metcalf, under I. Half the time can be saved in indexing by writing with indelible pencil instead of ink, thus doing away with the blotters and their repeated turning. P Q Park & Tilford. 108. Patterson, E. B. 169. Pratt & Lambert. 252. Pelham, Rob't Jr. 444. Penna. Academy of Fine Arts (See Harrison S. Morris) Phillips, C. L. 34. 56. 625. Pingree, H. S. 538.
