Gentlemen:

During December, ‘92, I purchased from you several books for Christmas presents. In the lot was one volume of Campbell’s poetical works invoiced at $36.00. The book was shipped by you to Mrs. J.M. Ferris, Toledo, O. She now writes me stating that the volume bears the date of 1839 and adds, “It is such a beautiful book, and I am always wondering whether it were really published in the year 1839.” Will you kindly inform me on this matter, and greatly oblige,

Yours truly,
C.L. Freer
