2116   One Circular Bowl, in original sagger. Yuan. Chinese.

Coarse, buff paste.
Dark buff glaze, with one large purple splash within, reaching to the rim. 
During the firing of this piece, the base of the sagger gave way and the bowl dropped, falling to a lower level. Within the center of the bowl, the base of the sagger, which was placed above it, still remains. 
Height of sagger, 5 7/8". Diameter, 10 1/2". (This specimen was found at Lu-le, about about 70 li south of Cheng-te Fu, in the Province of Chi-li.)
Purchased from Fong, China, while on trip during 1910/11, Journal Voucher #1 December 1911, for Mex. $45., plus customs, frt., &c., 22.50

Medium blue glaze, with purple splash on inside, below rim.
During the firing of this piece, the base of the sagger gave way and the bowl dropped, falling to a lower level within the sagger, which still clings. Height of sagger, 5 7/8". Diameter, 10 1/2". (This specimen was found at Lu-le, about 70 li south of Cheng-te Fu, in the Province of Chi-li.)

Hard, fine,white paste, containing small, black particles. 
Light green Celadon glaze containing many earthworm marks; crackled. 
Animalistic heads on the three legs. A broad, thick band is moulded around mouth. 
A small circular, recessed area on outer base. 
Height, 6 1/2". Diameter,  6 1/4".
