One Tall Bronze Vase. Chou. Chinese.

Tall quadrangular shape with flattened neck and swelling body, with two free projecting monster-head handles. The archaic ornament in relief presents the lineaments of the "haou tëen" or admonitory tiger head, well defined by vigorous lines against a small-fretted ground.
Neck and base display bold serpentine scrolls, suggestive of the primitive evolution of the tiger and dragon conflict. 
Deeply recessed base.
Rich brown and green patina, and heavy earth-encrustation. 
Without inscription.
Height, 19   ". Diameter, 12" x 10".
Carved wood stand.
