By the abstract report forwarded 31st ult. you will notice an increase in the number of scholars in our schools - 970 reported May 1st; 1027 now forw'd; a gain 57 - while the average attendance is less - 757 in Apl. against 627 in May. This loss in average is due to a number of our scholars having left school to enter into service - many of them out of town. The attendance has really been the most regular of any month yet reported, and we hope something has been done to impress such lessons, as also the lessons of order & neatness. In these respects there has been an improvement during the month.

Nothing has been done toward night instruction, and the regular sessions have been from 8 till 1 o'clock each day for the four morning schools Nos. 1,
