have specifically undertaken the instruction of the apprentice then sought to be bound, which he did not do. I am of opinion that the order of the Assistant Superintendent of Charles City Co issued Feb. 16, 1866, for the delivery of both the boys, and suspended by yourself until the result of this investigation, should now be enforced. There is, however, not sufficient evidence now forwarded to decide upon any claim of the mother for the past services of the boys, about which the counsel incidentally argue. That may be a proper case for the Freedmen's Court of the County to act upon when regularly brought before it. Respectfully submitted Garrick Mallery Lt Col V.R.C.
