Report of Cases tried before the Freedmens Court - Mathews Co. Va. for the week ending March 17th 1866 

March 17th/66 - Court met - pursuant to previous adjournment - All members present

Case 1st Caroline Bevel (col) vs. Marshall Miller 
Claim for articles of clothing due, but not rec'd for last year services.
Court gave judgment in favor of said Caroline in the sum of six dollars & twenty five cts.

Case 2nd [[Jessie?]] Lewis (col) vs. Washington Callis 
Claim for wages for last years services
In consideration of her incumbrances (children) and pay which she acknowledged to have already rec'd the Court allowed her one barrel of corn.

Case 3rd Abram Smith and sister Agnes (col) vs. Mr E.M. Roy
Claim for three bushels wheat for self and one bushel for sister. Mrs. Roy's overseer agreed to give Abram one bush. wheat per day and his sister Agnes one half bush per day. Abram worked three day and Agnes two day, all of which overseer testified to, and which was the usual price paid per day for cutting and sieving wheat crop
The Court gave judgment in favor of said Abram in the sum of six dollars and to Agnes the sum of two dollars.
