Brief

Hanover, March 10, 66

Col Brown, Chief of Freedmens Bureau, Va.

Dr Sir
It is said that the people of the south are opposed to the negroes owning land &c. I would like to give you a little of my experience about negroes, as renting to & selling to them &c. I have six (600) hundred acres of land that I desire to sell to white or black. I have proposed to the negroes that they shall make up a company and buy it. That if 12, of them would unite or if 24 would do so I would sell to them on the following terms. If the 24, they would get 25 acres a piece
