of compensation from the Government, from the beginning to the close of the War, for my services, but on the contrary had to bear all my own expenses, I have done nothing to support the War, save that which circumstances compelled me to do in order to keep out of Service.

This property (Camp Winder Hospital) was built by me, I furnishing the materials in 1863; and I have never rec'd the first cent for it from the Confederate Gov't or any one else. I now claim it as my property. and most respectfully ask that my claim may meet with your approbation.

Very Respectfully
Your Obed't Serv't
Chas. W. Allen
