Sir:
I have the honor herewith to submit in accordance with endorsement order a full report of the case of 

Abram Clayton
vs. Thomas Fox} Action for recovery of a horse and damages.
Plaintiff states that in March or April 1865 he took up a horse (large bay) that being a slave at the time he gave it to Deft to keep for him until Christmas 1865.  that Deft now has the horse and refuses to deliver him claiming him as his own, the horse had the "string halter' 

Mr. Wm. C. Wade testifies that in March 1865, Deft. had the horse in question which was branded "C.S." Pltf. told witnesses that he had given Fox the horse to keep for him.  Deft. had the horse appraised for $1200 Confederate money.

Mr. George T. Brumley testifies that in Oct/65 Deft told him that this horse belonged to Pltf. Pltf. made the same statement.  Pltf. had at the time a small bay horse which he told witnesses belonged to Fox.  Pltf. and Deft. were cultivating a crop on shares.  Pltf. said that he was going to give Deft. $25 for small bay horse he had with him. Deft. confessed to witnesses that the
