Col.
I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of yours of July 13th inst directing me to make preparation to turn over the Taylor Farm at the earliest possible moment. To enable me to be prepared to turn over the Farm, I would respectfully request, authority to sell or transfer (162) one Hundred and sixty two cords wood, borne on my Qr. Mr. Papers, and now lying on the farm. With this wood properly disposed of, and the Hospital removed, there would be nothing to prevent the restoration of the farm save, the claim the Freedmen living upon it, have to their crops.

I am Colonel
