Bureau R.F. and A. Lands
Headqrs Asst Commr
Richmond, Va Oct 1st

Respectfully returned to Maj Genl J.M. Schofield Asst Commr. "Marshal Jones" was tried by Col McIntee Provost Judge for grand larceny March 25th 1866. His crime consisted in stealing "fowls" to the value of $22.50 from Dr. Harrison residing near Richmond. Col McIntee's records are deficient and do not show that the prisoner was "found guilty" or sentenced.

The order for his confinement is in due form and designates his crime as "Grand Larceny" His conduct has been remarkably good since his incarceration and he is now suffering from scrofula being too ill to labor.

It is respectfully recommended that he be pardoned and released.
