Sir: 
Yours of this date relating to the burial of the remains of Georgeanna Stevens is received. I have given instructions for the burial with as little delay as possible. It is the duty of the City or County authorities to provide for the safety of the health of their inhabitants and attend to such duties as the above; but in all cases, where I am informed, that they neglect or refuse I at once have them attended to. My orders and instructions are received from the War Department through the Bureau R.F. and A L, and can be received from no other source until so ordered. Please notify me of any neglect or refusal on the part of the City Authorities, giving name, age, and former residence of deceased., and I will attend to it without delay.
