LEASE FOR HOUSES AND TENEMENTS.

Memorandum of Agreement made this 23rd day of September 
A.D. 1865, between Charles E Johnston Agent of the Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, in the city of Norfolk Va., and Henry A Beatty and David T Corson of the same City and State of Va.

WITNESSETH, that the party of the first part leases unto the party of the second part, the following described premises: 

Craney Island Va, So far as the jurisdiction of this Bureau extends. 

In behalf of said Bureau of Refugees, Freedmen and Abandoned Lands, for the term of (1) One Year and as much longer as the parties can agree. The term to commence on the first day of October A. D. 1865. Five days notice to be given by either party for the termination of this lease. 

The rent to be Seventy five dollars per month, in advance. Property to be returned in as good condition as it now is in, loss by fire or other unavoidable injury excepted. 

It being mutually agreed upon between the parties that the Lease shall be renewed from year to year for (5) five years.
