If I again trouble in the matter of the removal of certain slaves from my King Kopsico estate in Westmoreland Co Va (with whom (as before stated a contract was made before the war, and which I hold their receipt to them) has been faithfully executed by me, and which expired on 1st Jan ult.) it is because Major Johnson declines to take any steps in the premises, tho' the argument has been so exhausted, that from the original (untenable) endorsement that "the affair should be settled in accordance with the interests of the Bureau" irrespective of the rights of the parties, the question, as appears from the last endorsement, dated 5th Dec 1865, is now narrowed down to the instruction to the Dist. Supt. "for such action as may be necessary."

It remains then for me to show that it is necessary - having already shown that if it was a case between white and white that the Law would settle it in accordance with the contract. (Be pleased to note that this a unique case and not simply one where
