made, he took the risk of getting property without title. Peter Simpson has possession of the property he purchased and has been occupying it ever since the day he purchased it. If he has any demand against Mr Bowman the Courts of the Country are open to him and he should seek his remedy against Mr Bowman without annoying me or my property.

I think that Lt Chase has transcended his powers when he has undertaken to open a Court of Chancery and discharge the duties of Chancellor in Virginia. I send herewith a copy of the ordered issued by Lt Chase, but prepared by the Lawyer of Peter Simpson. I think it an outrage upon my rights and therefore appeal to you to have it at once recinded. I send herewith the statement of Mr Alcocke of my having purchased the House & Lot of him and that he conveyed it for my separate use and benefit.

I hope General you will find it consistent with your duty to direct Lt Chase that he has no control over my property or myself upon the contracts of my husband.

Very Respectfully
Mrs. Caroline V.B. Bowman
