Dear Sir
Hoping you can give me some assistance from the government, by way of transportation, I write to ask you kindly to interest yourself for me 

I fear you think 'tis a grave request for one who is a perfect to make of you, and believe me sir nothing but very distressing circumstances would induce me to trouble you.

After loosing all our bills and a great deal of other property; we yet had a little left: the disposition of which we hoped would remove us to a loyal state
