Bvt Capt & Asst Supt Report of disturbance occurring in Farmville Va. Representations made that the Rail Road gang would attempt to rescue their comrades who had been arrested Threats against my life - No police. immediate action necessary - ordered the gang to leave the town within an hour - which they did - may have exceeded my authority, but accept the responsibility, as I considered it actually necessary. Arrested six - four released, two to be tried to day - The following is the damage done. One white man stabbed. Two freedman & one freedwoman beaten Troops necessary at this Post.
