States that he learns that the mill, &c. in Mathews Co. Va. had been turned over to the Q.M. Dept.  He supposed the mill was under control of the Bureau.

Wishes to know what steps are necessary to regain the property.

Dear Sir
I have just recd. a letter from Henry Bell of Mathews County Va. stating that an application for the return of the Saw Mill, Engine, [[Box Cars?]] &c, &c, taken by you from us during the war had been turned over to the Quarter Masters department & referred to Genl Terry.

When I had the pleasure of an interview with you in Richmond I was under the impression that the whole matter was under your control, & that there would be no difficulty
