I have the honor respectfully to ask to be restored the possession of a lot of land in the town of Hampton, County of Elizabeth. City and State
of Virginia  The said lot of land is  bounded North by what is known as the Academy Street West by Hospital Street East by the lot of land
belonging to Mrs Michelson and South by the said lot of Mrs Nicholson  The said lot of land is now occupied by a Freedwoman with whom I have  contracted for the sale of it  In common with the people here generally when the late War began I left the town of Hampton because of my family, but was never engaged with the late Rebellion.
