Sir,
I have the honor to report the following cases, sent before the grand jury at its last session. Case of an old freedwoman vs Tomlinson charged with beating her. he acknowledged to the magistrate that he gave her three lashes, and that if he had it to do over again would give her three hundred, A true bill not found. 2d. Fanny Loses (col'd) vs Geo Terry, charged with beating her with a club, admitted it before the magistrate, but claimed that Fanny called his daughter a liar, but did not prove this.
