I have the honor to state that a bill of lading was received at this office on the 14th inst from Qr Mr. New York City of (2) Two Barrels Clothing, with your address to my care on board the Steamship "Hatteras."

On inquiry being made for the barrels, it was stated that they were delivered to someone connected with your Dept.- if you have knowledge of the fact, please sign the shipping receipt sent to your office on the 14st inst and return it to this office at your earliest convenience.
