Major Stickney is here came up yesterday morning he is badly bruised very lame he puts up at the Drs he thinks the people will sooner come there than to my house to see him. I have no fears of an investigation if it is done fairly. these folks that have complained must show what they complain for. I want them to meet me face to face. I have never had any trouble with any of them that is worth mentioning I know of no one that can bring any charges I expect the only ones complained is Dr Shield & him. I have had no business with at all except in relation to that old woman, & Mr Darlington, I have found out that he has written a very impudent letter against me. I dont know why, I have had no business with him whatever since I came back except to call with Mr. Cranston one day to to talk with him about lands he had to sell. there are charges I
